This is based on one of the breastplates found on the pistoia altarpiece dating the second half of the 14th century. It has an attached triangular fauld which gives some protection to the hips and groin. Breastplate is made from 16 gauge and the fauld is made from 18 gauge due to the overlap a thinner gauge can be used on the fauld and still perform well. Comes in 3 sizes. | Mild Satin: | $345 | |

Armor scholars are still debating wether or not full backplates were in use during the 14th century. I am of the opinion that they were and that it is appropriate for the latter half of the 14th century. This is also appropriate for the 15th century. Coat of plates kit is constructed from 18 gauge mild steel galvanized plates. Kit has full back coverage and optional hip coverage with the addition of dag plates (sold separately). Kit includes front and back; 5 horizontal plates 2 lung shaped plates and 1 rectangular center plate. Plates are cut, shaped, corners ground, deburred, holes punched and painted primer grey to prevent rust. Kit comes with instructions and full tech support.
